A GPT (GUID Partition Table) disk is a type of partition structure used on modern hard drives that replaces the older MBR (Master Boot Record) partition scheme. GPT also provides better data recovery capabilities, supports modern features like secure boot, and is necessary for Windows installations on UEFI systems.
